It's OVER. VENT or GLOAT

Gloat or Vent -
Me 1st: I'm sad.
I think that the culture of this country is declining.
I think that most people don't know their facts regarding the economy, and what's worse, they don't care.
I think that most people line up and pull the lever for the team they're on. Their team is great. The other team sucks. Simple as that.
I also think that the left controls the news outlets, the TV shows, movies etc... and that there are millions of mindless lazy dummies who will line up and march in the direction they're told to.
I engaged in an argument last night with a guy who kept talking about Bush & Chaney. I had to remind him that they weren't in this election. That was 3 elections ago.
This helped me reach the conclusion I have mentioned.
He's too lazy to be informed.
Lazy dumb fuckers! Gloat on.
Let's see how it goes as we continue to drive around on flat tires.
I'm disgusted. I'm outnumbered.
I have predicted all along that Obama would win, but now that he has, I feel no joy in being right about it.
He's not doing a good job.
He's not gonna do a good job.
Every way you measure it, he has failed. But you re-elect him anyway.
WHY?
11/7/2012 4:19:46 PM
I don't know what to say except that, he will now be scrutinized in every way, and he should be, he will attempt to bring us down with his legislation to rob from the hardworking people, & give to those who don't,, allowing more and more of those who don't to follow. it is an evil snowball that will be the beggining of the end of this country unless congress gets involved, I am sick to my stomach, yet , I will continu to work hard and pay more and more taxes to those fucks that suck off me, there i said it, now go ahead you fucks , lay into me with your OBAMA wisdome
11/7/2012 4:50:53 PM
The good news is Mitt can light up a joint legally in MA if he's clinically depressed after all this.
11/7/2012 6:01:42 PM
I'm for that.
11/7/2012 11:42:56 PM
the issue is not Obama or Romney. It's Congress as a whole. The dude at the top gets almost no say in anything. He either signs it or vetos it.
the dudes in Congress are who are making the sausage, and unfortunately, PACs and super PACs control the sausae ingredients.
Until we change the face of the Reps and Senators, it will be more partisan politics.
Dec 21 2012 can't get here fast enough
11/8/2012 8:24:02 AM
I'm confused. A liberal friend of mine argued that the media isn't controlled by the left because they are multi-billion dollar corporations and their interests are just in making money. He even said that GE makes nuclear missiles and that they owned NBC at one time. Is that true?
He also said that Clint Eastwood proved that Hollywood isn't Liberal.
I can't believe it. I just saw The Campaign and all the movies I remember as a kid made big companies the bad guys (even recent ones like Total Rekall). So, who do I believe?
11/8/2012 8:50:54 AM
I think Grover Norquist (sp?) Said it best (paraphrasing) : we just need someone to hold.the pen with whatever we put in front of him.
11/8/2012 9:07:34 AM
I'm changing my name to Ricardo Royez. We're now outnumbered. I expected this to happen. Those who disagreed said that people are too lazy to go out and vote. The ol' apethetic theory. One thing I know about moochers. They will do whatever to keep mooching. Even vote.
11/8/2012 9:12:26 AM
Damn good point Rick.
I'm so down about the way this country is going. I really try not to be.
But if I'm being truly honest with myself, I have to admit that I think we are declining...
Our culture is eroding. It's a dumber, lazier, more self-centered and impolite country than it was years ago.
What's worse is that I feel helpless to do anything about it.
Like Sting said:
"When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around."
You just hang on, that's all you do.
11/8/2012 12:25:02 PM
But honestly, we've been down this road before......your parents' generation said the same thing about your generation, and their parents before them. You're right, make the best of what's still around. It really ain't that bad.
I took 3 years of Spanish in high school. A beautiful language.
11/8/2012 4:21:22 PM
If you look at the way the country voted it looks to more a rural vs urban thing. Here is a map I saw. If it is correct it says it all.
facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid... I did know Wareen would win because the DEMS hated sending Brown to DC. Where do I send my wallet?
11/8/2012 4:21:23 PM
I would like to see that Link Darxis, it only took me to facebook, please try a different one
11/8/2012 5:01:07 PM
But Jim, my parents generation were right.
11/8/2012 5:41:37 PM
Oh! Well okay then!
11/8/2012 11:32:03 PM
Rush
facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid... Here is the other link. It is via FB. You sign in and it will take you to the page. It is also on my Jim Alger FB page. The above is more detailed than the one on my site. It is very intering to see the whole country.
11/9/2012 2:53:05 PM
By the way sorry it took so long
11/9/2012 2:54:00 PM
Anyone know the best way to get a bumper sticker off of your car?
My team lost, and I don't wanna be one of those people who still have the Kerry stickers on their car.
I accept it, and hope for the best.
What else can you do?
11/14/2012 12:45:47 AM
Please verify :::: I was just informed that becuase I am in a family (wife and self)that makes between 80k and 100k a year combined, I am now forced to pay an ADDITIONAL 8000.00 (taxes, fees)a year to help support obama care.
11/14/2012 7:23:06 AM
I'm not really sure. But I think so.
I'm seriously that depressed about all of this that I just give up.
I've gone from keeping informed constantly, to not even wanting to know.
Why fuckin' BOTHER?
The big question is: WHEN DO I GET MY FREE CELLPHONE?
11/14/2012 10:33:24 AM
"I've gone from keeping informed constantly, to not even wanting to know."
Seriously Ken...I stopped listening to talk radio, stopped watching the talking heads news programs, and only watch the local news for 20 minutes in the AM since early this year. I get enough news to stay informed about what's going on and that's all I need. My stress level is down, my serenity is up and I've never been happier. I listen to comedy in the car, and I watch programs on educational channels (History, Nat Geo) when I get ready for work, and I watch funny programs at night for a few laughs at the end of the day.
Do me a favor, try what I've outlined above for a week. It takes some effort, but if you try it I promise your outlook will improve.
11/14/2012 11:42:55 AM
Well yeah Swanee, but a lobotomy works on the same premise.
But then again, the scar can be kinda sexy.
11/14/2012 12:02:10 PM
Kennium, "Mad Men" season 6 starts in the Spring of '13. SPOILER ALERT: Megan Draper in Hawaii.
Feel better yet?
ZOU BISSOU BISSOU!!!!!!!!
11/14/2012 12:04:41 PM
Wrong Carl. You're a guy who I'm sure could also benefit by staying slightly less informed...
11/14/2012 12:19:43 PM
Being informed is still okay. You have to just separate it from real life. The things you have control over vs the things you don't.
I play a walking stick flute or a shakuhachi to find my center, I play a ukulele to find my joy.
11/14/2012 12:33:44 PM
Plus, once you've already lost, you can just watch it as entertainment. Right now, the news is more bizarre than any made up reality show.
11/14/2012 12:36:13 PM
A general writing 20 to 30 thousand flirty e-mails to a woman in 2 years or something. HUNDREDS A DAY while "running" a war!!! This guy has that Captain Morgan on lowellrocks message board beat!
11/14/2012 12:39:05 PM
I mean, did he have certain phrases and times automatically worked into his phone ap?!?!
1:30 PM - Afganistan: "you have sweet tits"
1:35 PM - Afganistan: "tell me what you're wearing"
1:40 PM - Afganistan: " Al Qaida cell spotted outside embassy"
1:45 PM - Afganistan: " I miss you tongue"
11/14/2012 12:43:56 PM
So he's good at multitasking! SFW!
11/14/2012 1:57:12 PM
Being informed is OK if it does not skew your perspective of what is important in this world. Being over-saturated is not, especially since the majority of what we're told might have some tilt to it.
Balance.
11/14/2012 2:02:25 PM

Truthfully? I have lost faith in the people of this country.
I think that the country I grew up in is gone forever.
Of course it is!
It's supposed to be.
But, I see a communist element, or at least a socialist element, and everyone seems to be OK with that.
I'm NOT.
Maybe if I just ignore it, I can have the rest of my life pass by in a happy way.
I have a chronic lung/heart disease,
and my brother Bob is a day to day stage 4 pancreatic and bone cancer victim.
I've already lost 3 other brothers to cancer.
Bobby is 61.
Paul was 59.
Walter was 59.
Donald was 71.
My father was 61.
I am 57.
I have one son.
I have really good woman
My brother Bob is hanging on right now, day by day.
My country seems to be declining.
The only thing that matters to me is Family, Friends , and Music.
Politics means nothing now.
But this election comes along.
Here's this guy who by any measure you can name, has FAILED.
WHY would you re- elect this guy?
It's senseless to even argue with people who are THAT stupid.
So, for ME, where I am right now, FUCK POLITICS!
My vote is nothing.
A grain of sand.
I'm outnumbered.
I tried to help. I failed.
The only thing left to do - is turn away.
Fuck Politics.
I can have NO effect. YOU can have no effect.
It's over.
Why piss and moan?
Just take it.
When the world is running down
make the best of what's still around.
11/14/2012 11:49:35 PM
Again.....Think of Megan Draper in Hawaii.
If you can't wait that long, picture Paula Broadwell in a bikini. I know I am.
11/15/2012 12:58:54 AM
I was sick to my stomach the week before election, and even sicker now.
When you lose your job, just remember Obama promised "change".
Thankfully, when you lose your job, you can collect some "change" through unemployment compensation. Maybe they'll extend it to six years instead of six months.
When you get that brain tumor removed by a first year intern whose last surgical experience was to remove a sebaceous cyst off somebody's ass because socialized medicine provides no incentive for any doctor to specialize in brain surgery, I guess that's "change" too.
11/15/2012 1:49:08 AM
I lost my Dad at 63, my brother at 48 and my sister at 37. I was the middle child and now I'm the oldest and the first of my mother's 5 kids to live to 50. I learned earlier this year what is important, and moreover, what is not. Obama won, Romney lost now move on. Every generation has bemoaned seeing the decline of civilization during their time, and predicted the fall shortly thereafter and it hasn't happened yet.
""The only thing that matters to me is Family, Friends , and Music"." Keep it that way Ken.
11/15/2012 8:24:15 AM
The one thing Obama does BEST is to campaign.
Now that the campaigning is over, he won't stop. He never stops campaigning. It's all he ever does.
Maybe it's all he knows how to do.
He makes promises.
I hope he doesn't keep some of them.
That's because I think he's a socialist at heart.
There's nothing holding him back now...
So I give up. Nothing I can do.
I'm gonna go down and start hanging around with Auntie Zeituni.
Auntie Zeituni has a nice place.
11/15/2012 9:02:16 AM
For the record, I agree wholeheartedly with you guys and I refuse to complain about the election. It is what it is.
I'll just disagree slightly with one thing Swanee said, though I hope he's correct. I know every generation THINKS "this is the biggest election" and they disregard the forever swinging pendulum of left and right and get too morose about post election prospects, but we had some unprecedented numbers, stats, occurrences etc. you name it that suggest President Obama's "fundamental change" is here, and has more to come. That and the fact that every empire does indeed eventually come crashing down at least hints that our defeated feeling right now may go beyond this election and beyond that common generational bias. But again, I hope Swanee's right and we'll live to see another Ronald Reagan and another pendulum swing. In the meantime, Family, Home, Self Reliance and a focus on much more spiritual and artistic endeavors over worldly things. Amen to that.
11/15/2012 9:16:57 AM
....and some civilizations with less resources and intelligence still thrive, 4000 years later.
This country will persevere, come welcome and unwelcome change.
11/15/2012 9:25:37 AM
The world has endured 2 Ice ages, volcanoes (sp? Can I get a check on that Mr. Quayle?), continental shifts, earthquakes and is still here. U.S. made it through a Great Depression, The Red Scare, 9/11/01, and the threat of the Killer Bees. Most of us are only here for another 30-40 years. Make the best of it folks!!
11/15/2012 11:14:09 AM
Which 4000 year old civilizations are thriving?
I have no problem making the best of it, but you don't have to act like it's not happening.
11/15/2012 1:26:36 PM
On a completely unrelated note, Swanee, did you get the framed print you were looking for yet? It's on my watch list.
11/15/2012 1:34:31 PM
I baited you with that one Carl.
Still looking for "A Helping Hand" too...
11/15/2012 2:47:13 PM
I'll keep an eye out, I go to more antique stores etc. than any 3 gay guys.
11/15/2012 3:08:24 PM
Nashua Pickers.
11/15/2012 4:07:38 PM
Thank God the world will end in December
11/15/2012 5:10:23 PM
Damn, I had a great gig for you in February Ken!!
11/15/2012 8:26:47 PM
Unfortunately, we are on the verge of the sixth major mass extinction event.
(Paleontologists define a major extinction event as one where 75% of the species become extinct.)
Neither Obama or Romney can change the path we're on.
The current rate of discovery is about 16,000 new species a year. We have identified nearly 10% of all known species only within the last decade.
Unfortunately, this rate is outpaced by the estimated 27,000 species that go extinct every year.
If it goes unchecked, we will reach "major mass extinction" status in 200 to 3,000 years.
So we should worry over Obama or Romney?
11/15/2012 10:24:14 PM
I think your pointed hat is a little too tight....
11/16/2012 2:27:03 AM
Democrats! Twinkie is dying for YOUR sins!
11/16/2012 11:01:25 AM
Looks like Adele will have another Grammy packed album coming out!
11/16/2012 11:42:12 AM
You've a mean spirit Jimmy. Mean.
11/16/2012 11:55:58 AM
Guess I should't post the picture of Chris Christie crying outside of a Wal-Mart?
11/16/2012 12:08:50 PM
People are more worried about Twinkies than Obama's Benghazi Cover-Up
(or was it just incompetence)
11/16/2012 1:07:23 PM
We're just more likely to get some real honest closure regarding Twinkies.
And we're done with political things we can't control. We can go out and buy a case of Twinkies to hold us over until someone buys the recipe and name though. Remember, it's all about family now. I have to make sure my daughter experiences a Twinkie for two reasons: One: they're very tasty. Two: Some day, unhealthy high calory items like Twinkies will be illegal thanks to mean people like Jim Zaroulis.
11/16/2012 1:26:12 PM
There was nothing mean about anything I said. I'm a wise ass, but I'm never mean.
Chill bro...sanctimony doesn't wear well on you.
semi colon, right parenthesis.
11/16/2012 3:32:27 PM
About this Benghazi Cover-Up - why isn't this a big issue?
I can't understand why people are ripshit mad about this.
If this happened under Bush's watch they would have his head on a stick by now.
11/16/2012 4:34:41 PM
Stop worrying about it Kenny. There's nothing we can do.
11/16/2012 7:10:46 PM
Who is John Galt?
11/17/2012 10:08:08 AM
Sanctimony?!?! I'll give you sanctimony you artsy sissy! I'll give you sanctimony straight up your ass!!!! Sanctimony. Why I oughta.
11/17/2012 10:49:50 AM
There is no Galt's Gulch for we, the living.
11/17/2012 10:51:00 AM
But Twinkie The Kid? All the disappeared ranchers have a new rope trick teacher.
11/17/2012 10:52:29 AM
That was mean.
11/17/2012 11:43:08 AM
So here's the role call now remaining on Lowell Rocks:
Me
Kenny H.
Carl
Jimmy
Ken Lemire (only when he's hormonal).
Even Gary isn't pushing stuff hardly anymore!
ANd of course the every couple of day poster from someone who most likely got this website with a "local music" google search.
11/17/2012 7:56:03 PM
What am I chopped liver? Go shit in your fist Swanee
11/17/2012 9:44:13 PM
We should start a band! Call it "Right over Left"
11/17/2012 9:48:43 PM
We should start a band! Call it "Right over Left"
11/17/2012 9:49:07 PM
Double post! Damn Adderol!!
11/17/2012 9:49:43 PM
I agree with the OP... people are creatures of habit.
11/17/2012 10:31:03 PM
right over left should learn Halleys fifth concerto.
11/17/2012 10:36:52 PM
A different chord change every 76 measures.
Nailed it.
11/17/2012 11:01:40 PM
Swing and a miss!!!
11/17/2012 11:55:41 PM
Well, we are here.
If you stop, and think about those people, it would make a pretty good band.
11/18/2012 12:46:02 AM
To end this post, I guess I'd just like to pretend that I no longer care about politics.
The truth is, I realize that it's futile.
I will try real hard to shut up about it. Not think about it, and most of all not whine about it.
...Go into some sort of acceptance and find a way to adjust to this new reality. The country I used to know may be gone forever.
Who the hell thought THAT could happen?
Not me.
I have vented.
I feel better for doing that.
I also feel like shit for having to do that.
No more. I promise.
The best thing to do is to get back to what really matters.
Family, Friends, and Music.
You have those 3 things and you can get through anything.
We still wake up every morning in the best country in the world.
11/18/2012 12:56:14 AM
Kennium, we do live in the best.country!
Carl, you're.out of your element. Go piss on someone else's rug.
11/18/2012 1:49:03 AM
Phuckin "." sweeps in here with his non sequiturs one every 6 weeks and wants to be part of this cabal? I think not.
Your posts makes me pray for the return of Friekman, or the black plague...hey Rapture, "." just posted, I'll be waiting out by the curb, come and git me!
11/18/2012 9:10:29 AM
Do we live in the best country?
11/18/2012 9:53:19 AM
The rhetorical "best" country because it's where we were born and we're patriotic? Or objectively the best country?
11/18/2012 9:55:11 AM
I'm not bringing up other places to live out of sour grapes or the whole "my guys lost so I'm leaving..." point of view.
But as we vote in guys who by design are making us more like the semi-socialist countries of Europe and elsewhere, and the things that set us apart from the rest of the world are incrementally dismantled, why not drop the idea of American Exceptionalism since if the only thing exceptional about us lies in our past, I see no reason to keep bragging about it.
11/18/2012 10:08:26 AM
From reading some of those "best country to live in..." articles, it seems the US is mainly good if you like to buy stuff. Disposable income. Probably the least important thing in the long run if you want security and happiness.
11/18/2012 10:11:41 AM
rediff.com/business/slide-show...australia, seriously, I am not dwelling on it honesty, but I truley feel, thatmost people don't fuckin realize how bad this country is gonna be soon, this screwed up president is making this a comunist country, the changes are going to be very dramatic to what we all know as normal, it may take 10 years, but ,
looking to move to a different country is not such a bad idea
11/18/2012 10:12:24 AM
We have great new phones but our wifi is trash. We have lovely beaches that we're not allowed to camp or sleep on. It's kinda like a police state at night too. I was pulled over twice in the last two weeks because my front license plate was on the dashboard and not screwed in yet. (yes, I finally bought the right screws and fixed it)
11/18/2012 10:15:57 AM
You're not really judging the country by it's friggin Wi-Fi service!
You know it's the best country in the world.
That's the reason everyone sneaks in.
11/18/2012 11:55:43 AM
I've heard even Mexical illegal immigration is way down because there are no jobs!
11/18/2012 12:30:16 PM

But seriously, no, I don't KNOW that it's the best. I haven't lived anywhere else. I used to believe it was the best, but it's getting hard to totally believe. I was watching the latest James Bond movie the other day (excellent by the way) and looking at Shang Hai (I think it was Shang Hai) and seeing other Asian cities here and there, it just looks like they're more advanced. I KNOW other places are much cleaner. I absolutely HATE that all our electrical cables are up on poles. Crime rates. Violent crime. Math and Science grades. Even voter turn out. I just don't see any evidence to back up the notion that this is the best country anymore. There's a guy in jail right now, here in the US for making a fake "coming attraction" to a non-existent movie that makes fun of Islam. Yes I know he was on probation for other things that allowed them to lock him up, but make no doubt about it, he's in jail to support a lie about an assassination. How are we any different than every other country at this point?
11/18/2012 1:26:15 PM
More people care about American Idol and Dancing With The Stars than ANY of this, so it's certainly not the populace that makes us "the best".
How are you so positive. I'd love to be convinced we're still the best. Help me out guys. Give me the facts.
11/18/2012 1:29:09 PM
We are better than any country I know about.
11/18/2012 8:02:00 PM
LOL, have you ever basked in the Adriatic moonlight in Montenegro? I hear their children excel in math as well.
11/18/2012 8:11:19 PM
We are degrading, dividing, and our borders and culture are being constantly compromised, but still, we are the best country that I know about.
I have worked with people from all over the world in a company called World Trade Group for about 4 years. I traveled all over the place with them and lived with them, and we talked about it. Most of the people I worked with and traveled with were Chinese, British, English, Indian, and Canadian.
The mere fact that they came here to do these large business summits says a lot. Or at least it used to. These days, it's changing.
Still, even though this is just MY opinion, I think that people look to the USA as a model for a higher standard of living.
Do you agree?
11/18/2012 8:12:55 PM
Have I basked in the Adriatic moonlight in Montenegro?
No.
Isn't that the place with all the earthquakes and the wars?
Where the economy has collapsed, and the water is unsafe? That's where a lot of the world's heroin comes from and the government is completely corrupt.
Nah. I haven't checked out their moonlight.
11/18/2012 8:34:52 PM
We have a high standard of living, yes. That's why we make the top 10 consistently. But that's kinda turned into "stuff" ya know? We have a lot of stuff, and people think they want stuff. I wish I believed we were still the best place to live, but those Canadiens sure are looking smug and comfy.
11/18/2012 8:42:02 PM
Well, I worked a lot with Canadians. I have a bunch of Canadian friends. The company I worked for, World Trade Group, was British based with offices in Canada.
The CEO brought his father to Boston to have a heart bypass operation he was not able to get in Canada.
Some of the younger folks moved to New York City. All of them loved it whenever we went to Florida or Myrtle Beach, or California, or Palm Springs. They loved Texas too. Some of these folks were Indian and Chinese and all of them loved our music. I don't know much about living in other places, but there has to be a reason why everyone wants to come here. I don't see people yearning to sneak into Russia or Korea.
11/18/2012 9:11:41 PM
Our standards of living are being compromised gradually, and we are losing our culture.
I feel like I was so lucky to grow up in the USA at that particular time.
Maybe that time was the best, and it's never going to reach that level again? I don't know. What do you think?
11/18/2012 9:16:53 PM
If you agree, press 2 for English...
11/18/2012 9:17:31 PM
If you land a gig in Shanghai Carl, ill stop by.
11/18/2012 10:14:10 PM
America is great to buy stuff? Disposable income? You're way off man! FOOD!!! #1 in obesity!! Home of the Triple Cheeseburgers, Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden (Worst Italian joke since Jay Leno), and Cinnabon!.
Other than that....I love the USA.
11/19/2012 1:54:52 AM
I agree Kenny.
Jimmy, food choice is a major part of having disposable income, same issue. Now shut the fuck up Donny you're out of your element.

I've heard those Canadian healthcare stories. I've always believed them too, but what's the point now? It's the law of the land here too. On an obvious path anyway. It's time to mentally re-tool. Learn how to play the system. Telling stories about rich people flying to Boston and NY for surgery is all about convincing the US not to socialize medicine. Too late. He won. It's just depressing to dwell on it now. You gotsta bilk it baby!!!
11/19/2012 8:38:13 AM
The Equalization of Opportunity bill will help out bigtime here, by limiting the number of gigs people play will give enough time to really dig in and learn the music, and Directive 10-289 will put all music in the public domain, so there will be no more restrictions on royalties etc - this will be great for the working musician.
11/19/2012 3:05:32 PM
Do you agree with that JZ, huh? Do ya?
11/19/2012 3:23:39 PM
I do agree. I think a lot of bands should limit their gigs and learn the music! Semi colon right parenthesis!
11/19/2012 3:29:49 PM
Friekin' pinko!
11/19/2012 5:23:30 PM
how bout them Patriots!!
11/19/2012 6:16:25 PM
Oh Randy, it's time to ban guns. Get with the program.
11/19/2012 6:16:50 PM
Nothing to do with politics, I was thinking of the music man. You never listened to a band and think "man...get off the stage and get yourselves back in the garage until you're ready"?
11/19/2012 7:14:51 PM

11/20/2012 10:59:04 AM
I'd rather have ammo in the can than junk in the trunk.
11/20/2012 12:12:11 PM
kenny,,such a big nut yur trying to crack. it ain't gonna happen like the old days anymore. all of us are getting older and a lot more jaded with people, sickness, life's problems. i don't know what the answer is but i like swanee's outlook. he's trying to change himself and his enviroment. it starts there first and progresses to the next challenge. i think thats the key. personal well being first and then world politics. gotta look after no.1 first!
11/22/2012 3:21:07 PM
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Fucking wrong!
Looking after #1 first is what got us here in the first place. Hedonism is the problem--what's in it for me, what can I do to maximize my pleasure and minimize my discomfort. When we stopped looking out for each other and only after our own interests, the country went to shit and fast.
11/26/2012 1:19:25 PM
I don't have any answers. Ain't even gonna pretend.
I just don't.
Merry Christmas.
What else would you like to hear?
11/26/2012 6:43:11 PM
Whatever you say Carl. I trust you'll come back to your senses and realize attempting to co-opt an already corrupt Party is not the way.
11/27/2012 12:15:25 PM
It was the way. I believe that last window of opportunity is indeed closed for the foreseeable future.
You've obviously chosen the whole "let Obama destroy as much as possible so we Libertarians with our guns and righteousness can step in and save the day" or something like that. I call it the "Pick Up The Pieces" war plan. (Sun Tzu probably hadn't a different, more Chinese sounding phrase for it)
Even if it were to work I don't like how many innocents get squished in the process. But here we are and I have no desire to dwell on what could have been.
But here's the big question for Big Daddy. Are you in favor of going over that so called "fiscal cliff" which would propel us further into being a country ripe for picking by a new Libertarian plurality?
11/27/2012 12:39:31 PM

Pick up the pieces? Yes in a way, but not in the condescending way you say it. I believe that no matter who won from either "big" party it wouldn't make any real difference.
The "Fiscal Cliff" is a lie at the worst and an exaggeration at the least--it's more like a pothole. It's political doublespeak to continue to divide us. All it means is the Govt gets more money from us when the Bush tax cuts expire.
The Left politically speaking will win big from this I think. He's what I see happening: Bush tax cuts expire as does the payroll tax cut. Everyone pays more--because the Right says it will NOT raise taxes on the "rich". The Left swoops in with a new bill to lower tax rates to Bush era cuts for people making <$X dollars and stuffs it under the nose of the Right--who says "we won't raise taxes on the rich". Then the Left gets to say "LOOK--they hate you and won't vote for a tax cut!"
It's all bullshit and smoke and mirrors. The only way we win is to get our more centrist friends stuck on the Left/Right merry-go-round to lose their blinders and get the hell off the ride.
11/27/2012 1:31:57 PM
You don't think enough Republicans will cave and strike a deal before hand? That's what I think will happen.
You don't see the huge tax increases that will happen if they don't strike a deal as being at least a bit catastrophic for our economy?
Honestly, do you want more crisis to force people to your (our) way of thinking socio-politically?
Ahhh, who cares? Stop making me think about this stuff. It's freakin' Christmastime!!!!
Blow The Christmas Conch!!!!!
11/27/2012 2:23:22 PM
I intend to spend the next 4 years making a difference. I need you to want to do the same. Let's talk after the holidays :)
11/27/2012 2:35:50 PM
Okay. I'd love to hear the plan, that's for sure.
11/27/2012 6:47:28 PM
I'd love to hear it too... Call me back... Coffee?!?
11/28/2012 6:52:26 AM
If tax cuts expire, do my taxes go up?
11/28/2012 4:00:48 PM
No, of course not. They only adjust to levels they previously occupied.
I like how they cut spending. Current budget for program X is $18bn. Requested budget is $25bn, but they only appropriate $23bn. Therefore, they cut $3bn in spending.
Shouldn't we be happy? We should give them all a gold star for participating.
11/28/2012 4:32:11 PM
By my math, If I pay more taxes this year than I did last year, my taxes went UP!
11/29/2012 6:03:03 AM
I'll give it to you that you that you want to spend the next four yrs making a difference. At least you're not hiding in a bunker!
11/29/2012 6:05:19 AM
If your taxes went up Al, that just means you are rich and therefore have nothing to complain about :-P
11/29/2012 11:25:24 AM
yah, serves me right for earning a living. I really have to check out this whole entitlement gig everyone keeps talking about
