Chris Dachuna's Last Recordings
These are a couple of songs recorded at one of the last gigs I played with Chris at Hynes Tavern in either March or April 2010. Unless he had recorded with High Road after this band, these are surely some of his last recordings. This was recorded at the first of only two gigs we played together.
They are not the best recordings due to some channel clipping/distortion and bad mic placement (we hadn't brought enough mic stands). But the performances were decent and it's all I have of us.
I wish we had stayed together longer. It would have been a good band.
The songs are Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell and Golden Earring's Radar Love.

CC, Chris and I played Heaven and Hell together when we were 19 years old. He played that song like the album. Always loved it.

cool who is singing?

You know what's funny Don is that I had never even heard that song until I played it in the band with Chris. I was a Black Sabbath fan growing up but had stopped listening to them after the album Sabotage in 1975. It is a fun song to play and it was one of my favorites in that band. The high vocal can be tough
and Leo (Lambert) sang it amazingly well.

Leo is a local guy from Lowell, Beef. It was the first time he was in a band! He just heard about Chris and called me yesterday. He'll be at the service.

CC, I'll be at the services as well this weekend. Hopefully we get to meet in person.

I never knew til recently you played with Chris. One thing I always did was check out the bands he played with in between our bands.

That band was very short-lived Don. In retrospect, Chris may have backed out of it because he was beginning to feel his affliction. He never said anything about it.
Health problems like that never erupt out of nowhere. They develop over a long period. They usually gnaw away at a person with subtle signs or indications. At first you know something isn't right but are well enough to suppress whatever is bothering you because you're still strong enough to carry on. Eventually it gets to the point where you know are seriously ill and seek treatment. This process can run the course of several years. With something like cancer, the sooner it is diagnosed and treated, the better.

Correction: Colon cancer is the best example of a serious illness that seems to erupt out of nowhere, even though it is symptom-free until it is usually too late to stop. But the polyps that eventually grow into tumors take a long time to develop. This is why it is crucial to be scanned every five years and especially after the age of 50.

For Leo, it was nice to meet you Friday night. Sorry I couldn't talk longer I would have like to. Like Chris I knew many of the people who were there. I saw some faces I haven't seen in 30 plus years.

Thanks for the links CC. Wish I had more of this stuff. I will be going through what he had at home and making an archive over the next few days.

You're welcome!
Hey, I've been meaning to ask you, is Charlie still running around?
I haven't seen the little guy since I was last there for a rehearsal in summer 2010.

Yes, the little rat-dog is running around me as I type. He has been pretty mopey since Dad passed away. Poor little guy...loved by man and beast!

Very sad....Chris loved that little pooch! I'm glad to hear Charlie is still in good health.

rat dog??? no, charlie is a min pin!! He is soooooo cute!!! I also have 2 min pins and chris and I always traded "min pin" tales. They are very loving dogs and I am sure he is very confused. But he knew, as dogs always do, that chris was hurting and I bet charlie was right there by chris's side. give him an extra treat!

When I say ratdog, I mean it in the nicest way possible. ;)
