Bartleby in Herman Melville's "Bartleby The Scrivenor", whose only line of dialogue throughout the story is, "I'd prefer not to".

I should pitch-in here but I won't because nobody cares anyway.
But the beauty of it is that I don't either! So it's not a total loss.
