Any advice from those who fly frequently.

I got to catch a flight tomorrow and It's been so long since I've flown I don't know the best way to get in and out.

I have to bring a few things like my laptop (clothes for a week) and possibly a PC tool kit.

If I bring tools will I have to submit my baggage to claim or can I carry on. How big can I go for a carry on?

If they don't let me carry it on should I carry my laptop separately?

I might need to change flights on the way. How do I confirm my baggage makes it?

Should I just Next Day UPS my tools?

Any advice?

Doubt you'll get on board with any tools at all.
Just check your bag & carry your laptop with you.

You won;t be able to carry on your tools. I suggest checking your luggage with the tools in it and carry on your laptop. If your flight is direct, it's not likely to arrive late. If you're connecting, depending on how short your connection is, you might want to ship the tools.

I always check my bag. I hate carry on luggage and despise the people that bring it. They always run out of room on full flights.

Definitely wear sneakers since you undoubtedly will have to remove them. Slip ons are best. Don't wear a belt since you'll have to remove that too.

Be prepared to get patted down. (Depending on whether you get TSA Officer Bruno, that could be fun.)

And whatever you do, don't be telling those jokes in Arabic while standing in the Security line. Those guys have no sense of humor.
