Goodbye Paul Newman
One of the finest! Never heard anything bad about him. Hollywood Royalty.
We'll miss you Paul.

Could you ever picture anyone else playing "Cool Hand Luke"?
A lesser known film that I always loved him in was called "Somebody up there likes me". Remarkable depiction of the life of Rocky Graziano.

I loved that guy!
I liked some of his lesser films, like Harry & Son and The Drowning Pool. Anyone remember those?
He was one of a kind.
9/27/2008 11:19:50 AM
Bummer!
Cool Hand Luke and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof are two of my favorite all time movies.
... And his sald dressing kicks ass!
9/27/2008 11:20:47 AM
He was my all time favorite actor and also a great humanitarian. He and Joanne someone stayed above the Hollywood crowd and never let their heads get too big. They must have the record for longest lasting Hollywood marriage.
9/27/2008 12:15:01 PM
oops- meant to say somehow not "someone"
9/27/2008 12:16:48 PM
what about Butch Cassiday & the Sundance Kid
The Sting,
and in his later years the one where he was a Charlestown Lawyer (I dont remember the name)
9/27/2008 12:23:34 PM
About ten years ago I was reading an interview with Robert Redford, who's obviously a great friend of his. Basically he said something like the guy's an actor's actor, he's been married to the same woman (in Hollywood!) for forty years, he gets to race his cars, and he's a great guy. Don't you just hate his guts?!
He's one of those great actors who always made it look so natural that it never looked like acting.
The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Absence of Malice, etc. Man, what a body of work.
Yeah, I'm a really big Paul Newman fan. What a life the guy lead, though, huh?
9/27/2008 12:23:39 PM
Hey Arte you beat me to the punch man
9/27/2008 12:24:21 PM
The Verdict. Loved Jack Warden and James Mason in that one too.
9/27/2008 12:25:33 PM
Harry and Son, with Robby Benson, great movie.
Hey, what about SLAPSHOT!!!!
9/27/2008 12:49:04 PM
Sh*t, forgot about Slapshot! Awesome movie!
9/27/2008 12:58:24 PM
Sundance Kid: 'I CAN'T SWIM!"
Butch Cassidy: "HAHAHAHAHA!!! The fall will probably kill ya!"
9/27/2008 1:05:08 PM
"Paul Newman's half Jewish. Goldie Hawn is too. Put them both together WHAT A FINE LOOKING JEW!"
from "The Hanukkah Song" by Adam Sandler
9/27/2008 1:06:08 PM
Come on ladies, did Paul Newman NOT have the best blue eyes in Hollywood do date?
9/27/2008 1:06:46 PM
"....to date...."
That might have been gay, but it's ok, I'm confident.
9/27/2008 1:08:21 PM
Not the best movie, but I loved him in The Color of Money.
I never knew he was 83, because I couldn't see anything else but his blue eyes.
and yes....his salad dressing rocks!!!
9/27/2008 1:36:41 PM
Butch Cassidy was the first movie that I paid to go see, love that movie too.One of the best westerns ever made.
9/27/2008 1:42:05 PM
That is so sad....Arte have you ever seen "From the Terrace"? That's my favorite of his films.
9/27/2008 3:43:08 PM
Can't say that I've ever heard of that one.
And as an ex-hockey player, I'm completely ashamed that I forgot Slap Shot. But I was a goalie, so I guess I can attribute it to one too many shots off the coconut.
9/27/2008 4:03:42 PM
Thanks for mentioning Slap Shot Jim.
It's really pissing me off that on radio and tv, when they list his great movies, the never mention Slap Shot!!!
It's one of my favorite movies ever! And he's outstanding in it.
His character in many ways is despicable, but you have to love the guy, and root for him, because Paul Newman was awesome!
9/28/2008 1:45:08 AM
Now I'm wicked sad.
9/29/2008 7:30:30 AM

9/29/2008 10:46:36 AM
Imagine my best Ed McMahon impersonation...
