Could you ever picture anyone else playing "Cool Hand Luke"?

A lesser known film that I always loved him in was called "Somebody up there likes me". Remarkable depiction of the life of Rocky Graziano.

I liked some of his lesser films, like Harry & Son and The Drowning Pool. Anyone remember those?

He was one of a kind.

He was my all time favorite actor and also a great humanitarian. He and Joanne someone stayed above the Hollywood crowd and never let their heads get too big. They must have the record for longest lasting Hollywood marriage.

About ten years ago I was reading an interview with Robert Redford, who's obviously a great friend of his. Basically he said something like the guy's an actor's actor, he's been married to the same woman (in Hollywood!) for forty years, he gets to race his cars, and he's a great guy. Don't you just hate his guts?!

He's one of those great actors who always made it look so natural that it never looked like acting.

The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Absence of Malice, etc. Man, what a body of work.

Yeah, I'm a really big Paul Newman fan. What a life the guy lead, though, huh?

Thanks for mentioning Slap Shot Jim.

It's really pissing me off that on radio and tv, when they list his great movies, the never mention Slap Shot!!!

It's one of my favorite movies ever! And he's outstanding in it.

His character in many ways is despicable, but you have to love the guy, and root for him, because Paul Newman was awesome!
