Don't You Wish The Election Was Over?

This election thing brings me down.
All this negative crap puts me in a bad mood.
So, I decided to ignore it, to pay no attention to it.
I mean I've made up my mind who I need to vote for.
I hate voting for the guy I'm going to vote for, but he scares me less than the other guy.
And I try to ignore it.
I can't listen to talk shows now, and I love talk shows.
I need a laugh, but...
I can't watch the monologues on Leno or Conan, or Letterman.
I can't escape on SNL.
No escape! If you watch TV, you get pounded by it.
I'm deliberately not watching the news.
I went to a dinner party with friends where that's all they talked about. They were all yelling. Good friends, screaming at each other.
I go to Lowell Rocks, and that's all I see - more people I know bickering about these two shitty candidates.
I wish election day was tomorrow.
No matter who gets elected though, people are gonna keep on fighting about it.
We're THAT divided now.
I have no answers.
There's nothing I can do.
I figure it's best to just use all that extra time doing some kind of music related activity, or reading a lot, or getting drunk.
Why not?
You can't watch TV, Listen To the radio, hang out with friends or go online to escape it.
Books, Booze and Guitars.
Maybe that'll just have to do, for a while.
Any other suggestion are welcome.
Politics SUCKS!

What election?
9/25/2008 1:56:58 PM
YES! YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!
9/25/2008 1:58:37 PM
Thank god someone said it.
9/25/2008 1:59:47 PM
IMO. we should take some pages out of other country's election processes and cut the whole damned thing down to like 6 months or less. A lot less, if possible.
9/25/2008 2:00:56 PM
(in a soft, calm & soothing tone...)
we're not gonna win with either choice... it's strange.. in this situation, there actually is no "lesser of the two evils"...
9/25/2008 2:03:27 PM
Honestly, it doesn't bug me as much as American Idol discussions. But yeah, I turned off the TV Today. Funny you should post this Today, because this was the day I couldn't take any more. I turned off the TV, picked up my Uke, and fed the baby outside, away from the media. It's been building, since the other day, I went to the Library, and got some books to take me away from it all.
9/25/2008 2:05:43 PM
TV- Stick with the high numbers on TV- your travel and cooking channels and the nature shows- if you have hi-def shows about whales and octopuses and sh*t haul ass
Radio- same thing- if you can stand country music (I love it now because most stations blow ass and I'm too poor to get sirius) all the talk there is about Toby Keith and THAT'S IT- doesn't matter what they're playing
Hang out with friends- pick friends who are dumbasses, that's what I do
Go online- porn, homes, porn

I had a great weekend though, The North East Tiki Tour! Almost NO politics were even brought up, except one question from an Obama operative and his wife, where they were trying to appeal to my Libertarian side, hoping I was voting for Bob Barre, and wondering my opinion on Palin, to which I said, "I like her, because she wears sexy hot little glasses, like yours!" which definitely ended all political questions! :-) Then we all got very drunk on every type of Rum you could imagine.
9/25/2008 2:09:19 PM
What kind of rum do you mix with IBC Cream Soda, Carl?
9/25/2008 2:12:40 PM
I'm gonna try to ignore ALL media.
I read 2 books this week, and I'm starting a 3rd.
I'm gonna listen to some old canned music, and some new canned jazz while I restring all my guitars.
Tonight I'll watch Shine A Light On DVD and read some more.
I'm staying away from that negative crap tonight.
Katie Couric gave me nightmares last night, and I really needed to sleep too.
I kept seeing that FACE! The WEIRD EYES!
She started growing fangs and claws, and then I couldn't sleep any more.
9/25/2008 2:13:41 PM
Captain Morgan
9/25/2008 2:13:56 PM
But of course. I'm gonna try it. Lots of ice?
9/25/2008 2:15:05 PM
Although that's just what I used to do, if given some time, I bet I could come up with some very complimentary combinations.
What's cool about Captain Morgan and IBC Cream Soda is that they're almost exactly the same color. And aesthetics count!
9/25/2008 2:15:38 PM
Really what's up with Katie Couric's FACE?
Is she a Martian or something?
9/25/2008 2:16:13 PM
Sure, Ice is nice, but don't let it sit for long. Use a rocks glass or a double rocks glass to be sure you drink it all before melting gets too severe.
9/25/2008 2:16:36 PM
"be sure you drink it all before melting gets too severe."
like that would ever be a problem.
9/25/2008 2:17:46 PM
Katie Couric is trying hard to look 13 and also be respected as a serious news anchor woman. Imagine if someone ever referred to Edward R. Murrow as being perky?
9/25/2008 2:18:15 PM
Of course Walter Cronkite had perky breasts.
9/25/2008 2:18:50 PM
She looks like a smiley-face stress-relief squeeze ball.

Kennium, good book recommendation:
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski
9/25/2008 2:21:52 PM
I'm re-reading the Master and Commander series and reading The Nero Wolfe series for the first time.
9/25/2008 2:23:25 PM
I think Katie Couric has rings around her eyes from wearing goggles near nuclear testing.
Now the radiation is kicking in, and she's mutating into the Geiko Lizard.
9/25/2008 2:25:15 PM
No, that's nothing near as scary as what she looked like this morning.
When I saw Katie Couric this morning, I literally made that sound the 3 stooges make when they're scared.
Nyahhhuuuunnnng!
I had to turn the station.
So Barb, what's that book about?
9/25/2008 2:31:08 PM

"Born mute, speaking only in sign, Edgar Sawtelle leads an idyllic life with his parents on their farm in remote northern Wisconsin. For generations, the Sawtelles have raised and trained a fictional breed of dog whose thoughtful companionship is epitomized by Almondine, Edgar's lifelong friend and ally. But with the unexpected return of Claude, Edgar's paternal uncle, turmoil consumes the Sawtelles' once peaceful home. When Edgar's father dies suddenly, Claude insinuates himself into the life of the farm-and into Edgar's mother's affections. Grief-stricken and bewildered, Edgar tries to prove Claude played a role in his father's death, but his plan backfires-spectacularly. Forced to flee into the vast wilderness lying beyond the farm, Edgar comes of age in the wild, fighting for his survival and that of the three yearling dogs who follow him. But his need to face his father's murderer and his devotion to the Sawtelle dogs turn Edgar ever homeward. David Wroblewski is a master storyteller, and his breathtaking scenes-the elemental north woods, the sweep of seasons, an iconic American barn, a fateful vision rendered in the falling rain-create a riveting family saga, a brilliant exploration of the limits of language, and a compulsively readable modern classic."
9/25/2008 2:34:59 PM
Yeah, but what did YOU think of it?
Anybody read "House Of Sand & Fog?"
I just finished that one, and I'd recommend it.
9/25/2008 2:37:26 PM
I'm not recommending it because it sucked! Yeah, I liked it a lot.
I've never read The House of Sand and Fog...the movie was a downer.
Favorite book of all time: The Prince of Tides. It's brilliant.
9/25/2008 2:38:39 PM
Yeah, It wasn't a happy story, but I couldn't put it down. A real page turner. Never saw the movie...
I'll check that Edgar Sawtelle out tonight. Looks good.
9/25/2008 2:42:37 PM
I just started to get back into my scrapbooking to avoid all of the media
9/25/2008 2:46:52 PM
no you didnt erin.
that is a bold faced lie.
you never have scrapbooked, don't be using "scrapbooking" as a verb like you are all into scrapbooking and cool like that.
scrapwannabe.
