I guess the Piper is now at the Gates Of Dawn...

Again, the end of an era. (in my case the epitaph should read: ("The end of an error") :-)
Wayne, I followed that link to an interview with David Gimour in which he said something really interesting about the music business—or any other business for that matter:
"I think if you are going to get on in this career or any other career you've got to be fairly ruthless while you're climbing up to the to the point in the career you want to get to," he said. "That moment is long past for me. I don't have to scramble over the bodies to reach the top anymore."
How true! The only problem with that is, I'm getting too old (not so much physically but psychologically) to have to still be "scrambling over bodies" to just eke-out a living.

yeah, ain't it the truth...

Pink Floyd, especially the early stuff, takes you away to another place, a thoughtful, introspective place, a quiet place sometimes, or maybe a scary place. But always, somewhere else...

I've already been missing them.
Now I'll be mourning their perpetual absence...
In addition to "The Wall" and "Division Bell" listen to "Animals" and "Meddle." And for extra credit, "Umagumma."

I'm sorry, but this is taking a while to hit me fully.
I have always loved Pink Floyd. Intelligent music for people who actually think, rather than just head-bang.
The Masters are beginning to fade away into the Great Chorus of The Background.
As we all must eventually...

I know that I won't make anything like the wave caused by Rick Wright's passing, or any other of our heroes when I go.
I only hope to at least make a small ripple that will be noticed by my friends here at LR. You guys are all I have...
9/15/2008 6:23:20 PM
And I hope, if there is actually an obtituary (not likely, I'm afraid) that at least they'll say "Musician" before anything else (loser, near-do-well, etc.)
It's all I ever wanted to do. Yes, I know and knew, that it was an incredible long shot, but I always figured, if you don't go for your dreams, you'll always wonder, "what if?"
Well, I haven't given up yet, and I'm much too old now.
But still, what if...
Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot.
But still...

That's the spirit Wayne!!

One of my favorite Floyd tunes is Rick's "Summer '68"
I kept holding out hope for another reunion....damn

I get the impression that Roger Waters is not an easy guy to get along with.
9/17/2008 1:45:25 PM
My favorite used to be "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In a Cave And Grooving With A Pict"......

Remember all that hoopla about how the music from Dark Side Of The Moon fit the soundtrack to The Wizard Of Oz?
9/17/2008 1:52:44 PM
