Mike is a friend of mine, and he is a very talented musician.
His wife is undergoing severe cancer treatment and the prognosis doesn't look good. MIke plays piano, trumpet, guitar, bass, clarinet, saxophone and flute and is incredibly accomplished on all of them. He is a friend and a colleague.
He is welcome to sing at piano bar anytime he pleases.
I have seen 10 times more annoying/obnoxious people at Piano Bar over the past 3 years and I have dealt with it.
I'm sorry that not everyone who sits in on PIano Bar isn't world class talent.

To clarify my opinion: It's not about talent, it's about taking over. I'm sorry Jim if my opinion upsets you. Last week I thought he was a good singer and played piano well, but he took over. I love that piano bar brings people joy and I love that many people get up and sing. That's what makes it great. I LOVE getting up and singing with you, but when I'm up there if we do more than a few songs I get antsy because people aren't there to see me, they are there to see you.

Jimmy... I just spent 10 minutes writing a big, long response... and erased it... it wasn't really worth it... I've got MUCH bigger things to worry about.

I wasn't using Mike's situation as an excuse. If he had a few too many to take the pain away, not a good idea, but I'm not going to scrutinize him for it. He left with a smile on his face.

All I can say is I love Tuesdays ( big surprise huh?) It is still and always will be my favorite day of the week! I have met so many wonderful people who have become good friends. So heres to at least three and many more years of JZ Piano Bar! ( Ill still want to be sittin at the piano when IM ninety--hehehe!!)

Hey all ..Just got back from Ukelele Wednesday!!!
And I agree with JZ....If piano bar makes people happy and looses structure at times ....so be it ...it's not always about us..it's about every one of YOU...Desmond included....well maybe not you Des LMAO...Just kidding.
BTW ...JZ never takes breaks...Once in a while if he takes a break and other people want to fill in ..tis a good thing.
Thats my take anyway...see ya next Tuesday...Also..we do have to slow Mike down a little JZ...he thinks he's on a cruise ship again ..LOL
