Death Magnetic - Sept. 16th
Who's excited about this? I've been a Metallica fan for a long, long time (pre-Master). But after Justice I was completely turned off by them. Now, I'm hoping the new album will re-ignite my interest in them. I may actually pre-buy the album. Just wanted to get everyone elses input on it.

I fucking love Metallica! All of Metallica, including the Loads and St. Anger. They are the reason I play the guitar. Been listening since Garage Days in '87. I think Death Magnetic will crush. I too will likely pre-order it. Even though you can't judge an album by a few soundclips, those few clips rule!

Anyone else remember the January 22, 1984 gig at The Channel in Boston? Metallica didn't play cuz Lars didn't get his visa sorted out in time, but the rest of the band was there and chatting with folks in the audience. Armoured Saint opened the show, and then WASP played a full set to cover the night.

that band did some of the greatest metal ever- some of those songs are so meaty and haul ass its ridiculous but the genre is so deep and as far as drummers go I do not place Lars on the pedestal a lot do-
he's waaaaay better than me, but he's no Charlie Benante or Vinnie Paul-
That said, Anthrax and Pantera are nowheres near a Metallica
Seen 'em twice and they put on a hell of a show too-

As long as I've been a Metallica fan I have never seen them live. Mostly because I wasn't in the right place at the right time. If you go to Mission Metallca.com and check out the "preview" there is, there's some interesting Metallica facts on it. It says something like 15% of ALL radio play are Metallica songs. It also says they are the #2 selling band next to only the Beatles. I really have alot of respect for them as a band, considering how long they've been together and how long they've been a "touring" band.

I still remember the first time I heard them. A friend of mine played "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Trapped Under Ice". I was hooked. I was amazed that a band could play something so melodic and then heavy. From that moment on I became a "METAL HEAD", hahahahaha

actually now that I think about it for a drummer Lars has great stage presence for what that's worth

Wish I woulda been old enough to see them at the Channel in 84. That was a great place! Anyway, saw them for the first time in '89 on the Justice tour with the Cult opening and have seen them pretty much every tour since then and, no one else touches Metallica live. Pantera and Slayer come very close but no one tops Metallica live.
I first heard Fight Fire with Fire in '87 and was instantly hooked. Before that I was straight up RUN-DMC and nothing else!
