Eagles last night in Boston - Ronin's Review

Flat our incredible. It was absolutely everything one could ask from an Eagles show and more.
They played for well over three hours and just about every major Eagles hit as well as a strong selection of songs from their new "record" (as they kept calling it). They also played a lot of solo stuff from Don Henley and Joe Walsh (Funk 49, Lifes Been Good to, Rocky Moutain Way). Funny....no Glenn Frey solo tunes.
The most amazing thing was the sound. It was probably the lowest volume rock concert I have ever been to and the sound was pristine especially on the harmonies. Unfortunately there were times in the show when I wished it was a bit louder when the audience started to drown out the vocals. That might be the only negative thing I could say about this show.
The other big plus is every band member has maintained their voices especially Don Henley. Unlike some other recent shows I've seen (cough, cough...Def Leppard) where the singer should just retire, it seems like Eagles could go on for another decade.
The band had a horn section that really added a lot to the show especially the trumpet solo that started "Hotel California."
They ended the show at 11:40 p.m. with a perfect verson of "Desparado" and brought down the house.
This has now topped Springsteen in 2000 as my favorite show of all time. Wow....just plain wow.
Oh and it was my first concert experience in the new Garden and the acoustics were excellent....especially compared to the Verizon in Manchester.

They are phenomenal. I'm sure you laid out serious dough, so I'm glad it was worth it for you.

I saw a couple of live cuts on TV in HD and they were excellent.
Glad you enjoyed the show.

Not too bad, Rick. I paid more for Rush but of course, I was only nine rows from the stage for that show.

Joe Walsh also did "Seems to me".

Nice...but did they play "Walk Away"?
Oh man, that punchy really is a prick....
:-)

The Eagles have more hits than Pete Rose. They could have played 6 hours and never played a new song or a B track. The musicianship and the vocal ability they all have is astounding if you think about it. They're all pushing 60 or higher and sound better than ever as a group. Go figure.

and Henley is a heck of a drummer too! I didn't see this one, but did go to the last one at the Gahden. That was great as well!

Henley is 61!!!!!
I read some concert reviews from other places and the reviewers were lamenting what they called "sterile" performances. You mean cause it sounded so near perfect on stage?
Jeeesh, give me that over some band that plays sloppy and sounds like mush anyday.

Thank you Ronin for starting this thread...40 of us went Wednesday night and cannot stop talking about it. Yes, the sound was incredible. And it wasn't loud. At first I was wishing it was louder but...now I realize they were not ever on that sound level anyway. They all look healthy and well. And their voices are still the the best. We all had fun harmonizing along with them all night and...no one told us to "Shut Up!"
They sang the songs that we wanted to hear but most importantly they stuck to their true "Eagles" rooted stuff.
We all paid the price but we all felt that we got our $$$$ worth.
By the by.. The coolest thing of all. All 40 of us saw them at Shaffer or Schaffer stadium...etc. back in "75. Sorry about the spelling...Quite of few of us are musicians but mostly music lovers but so much fun putting this get together in place!
We all give it a "10!"

Very cool. I was too young back in 75' to go to a concert by myself and my parents weren't into anything recorded after about 1962.
I took some cellphone videos and all I can hear is the audience singing though at the show, I could hear that but clearly it was more the band.
I sure hope they keep on going and record at least one more CD.
