Currently Dave Lombardo is kicking my ass all around my office.

Last Laugh: Did you ever catch his earlier band "Mystery Jones"...?
Holy crap... what a band...!!! I've seen them a couple-dozen times and every show was amazing. The reincarnation that became Two Ton Show was still "good"... but totally different.
Dave is a great guy and a great drummer. Two Ton Shoe isn't the same without him.

this thread rivals "great ex-wifes" or "10 Ten Hemmroids"

Bill Buford has always been my favorite
I am not a cymbal fan (sorry)
the frequency of cymbals bum me out
I love a drummer who sits in the groove
Jeff Porcaro is another

Ansley Dunbar when he was with Zappa
Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree
Bill Buford is outstanding
Carl Palmer of ELP
The guy in Static X
As simple as he is Frank Beard from ZZ Top
Don Brewer of Grand Funk Railroad
Jerry Shirley from Humble Pie

Steve Smith, Tommy Igoe, Stewart Copeland and Terry Bozzio are my all time favorites.

I can't believe Neil Pert has been mentioned yet so I'll say it.
NEIL PERT
7/4/2008 7:27:34 AM
Pert's a great drummer. When I saw Rush in '03, my jaw was hanging when he did his drum solo. He was just not an influence in my playing style.
7/4/2008 7:35:31 AM
Terry Bozzio
Chad Wackerman
Tommy Aldridge
The late Bobby Chouinard from right here in Massachusetts.

OOPS! I should know better than that!
And I agree with Frank Beard. Great drummer.

Check out the crossover quads at the 6:45 mark...
7/5/2008 6:25:39 AM
Great call, Darxis, on Don Brewer of Grand Funk Railroad... One of my favorites!
Also, I'll add Les Warner, from The Cult
And Definitely... Matt Sorum!
7/5/2008 8:51:45 AM
GOD: Great clip.
Those aren't "quads" at 6:45... he's just pounding-out straight 1/8th notes on the kick while moving-around (and crossing-over) straight 1/16th-note single-stroke rolls between the snare & toms there.
What *I* find more impressive is around 2:55 where he does a 3/4 triplet ostinato between his kick-drum and left foot (triggering a tambourine sample) and he solos over that in other signatures and meters. VERY impressive.
Thnx for the clip.

7/10/2008 12:52:52 PM
That kid is f*ckin great!
7/10/2008 1:26:06 PM
He's no "kid" anymore... he's now in his 20's... do a search on YouTube for Tony Royster Jr.
