Songpull is less that a week away.

I know some here are excited about next weeks Songpull as am I.
Those that have participated already have been bitten by that bug that these events are just for you to help discover that in you that wants to know what it's like for those great musicians that we admire for blessing us with such beautiful music throughout lives.
Even if we know we could never hold a candle to such great songwriters. It's a nice feeling to try just as we try to cover some of our favorite songs by playing those songs that inspire us.
Nobody cares if it's only one song you ever write. Although most that start coming out to these songpulls start pumping them out in just a few months to exceed what they have only accomplished in ten years.
This is actually a rare oppurtunity to give yourself something you may have longed for most of your musical life. "TO BE HEARD" as who you really are musically.
Nobody at these songpulls are trying to write the next big hit. Their goal is just to be themselves.
So come on out to the Backstage Grille an relax and just be yourself. Cause we are all only interested in who YOU are.
And I don't mind if you but me a beer. :-)
"Coors Light" I'm on a diet. :-)
All musicians of all levels are welcome. Even drummers. :-)

What's the date Bruce?
5/14/2008 8:31:15 AM

5/14/2008 8:56:45 AM
Bumpin'
5/14/2008 2:23:18 PM
Bruce I will be late but I am coming this week sharpened my pencil and got a new to so case...see ya there
5/14/2008 8:39:23 PM
You got it my friend. Can't wait to hear what you got.
5/14/2008 8:41:52 PM
For those who ever thought about writing and singing your own material, this is the place to do it. Juice does a nice job making people feel comfortable singing their stuff. I was impressed with the one he had in NH. The great part is each singer gets a copy of their video singing their song for 0 cost.
5/15/2008 10:02:05 PM
That's a MONDAY right?
Where is it?
What time does it start?
5/15/2008 10:20:47 PM
This Monday Night May 19
Backstage Grille
1475 Main st (Rte 38)
7 to 9 pm (ish)
All songwriters are welcome and encouraged to perform.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Guitar is available if you don't care to bring one. It's OK to just come check it out if your not sure you are ready just yet. Most who do usually find they are and decide to play anyways.
There are many reasons songpullers come out to these events but the most common are:
To finally finish those songs incomplete songs.
Have a chance to get a recording of it.
A reminder through writing monthly to remain receptive to song ideas and hopefully stay inspired.
Chip away at writers block and knock it over.
Get to know who your local songwriters are and network.
5/16/2008 6:13:22 AM
Kennium I hope you can come out.
You can use the videos on your own website if you want.
5/16/2008 6:16:08 AM
Pull it
Pull it
You want to ............
Puuuuulllll it!
5/16/2008 1:57:58 PM
Tomorrow!
5/18/2008 11:05:16 AM
I've got a song that needs a bridge.
I'm stuck.
I've been turning the thing around in my mind for days now, but I just can't seem to get it.
It's in there, and it wants to come out, but I just can't seem to get it right.
I'm gonna sit down and try to come up with that friggin' bridge today.
If I can get it done I'll go tomorrow night.
I'm going out on the back porch with my old acoustic right now.
We'll see...maybe I can do it...wish me luck.
If not, I wish you luck on whatever you're workin' on.
5/18/2008 11:44:32 AM
That's the spirit Kennium.
Use that deadline to kick that block out of the dam way.
It'll come to you.
I've been in that same position before and made a bridge the day before I had to perform live (before I strted songpulls). It was cool because it was so fresh in my mine still.
Either way Kennium, you don't need a brand new song to participate. You know that right?
Good Luck!
5/18/2008 12:29:13 PM
Dammit!... I have practice tomorrow night! SUCK!!!
5/18/2008 12:32:40 PM
Al, I's practice really going to help? :-) J/K
I think the Swanster may be droppin by.
Come early. Or later.
5/18/2008 12:42:02 PM
Song Pull Monday
I got two new tunes...come enjoy the good time we have.
I don't sing well but I have fun sucking at it. If you do sing and always wanted to have someone write an original tune for you maybe you might hear a tune you'de love to do because you love the lyrics or melody.. Lots of folks can sing but don't like to write, some like to write but can't sing..It's places like this were those two can meet.
come on out for a drink and check it.
give it a shot you might be surprised
5/18/2008 12:59:43 PM
You know what sucks?
I had it.
It was there in my head and I didn't record it.
I got distracted by some crap and now I can't remember it.
I hate that!
5/18/2008 1:56:40 PM
Oh Man,
Been there done that way too many times.
You know what I've done in the past though Kennium?
Gone completely off track live sometimes intentional and sometimes not just to see what happens and if I can land back on my feet. Results can go either way LOL.
5/18/2008 2:29:05 PM
Allright. I came up with some other thing, and who knoes? Tomorrow I'll probably forget that! But I'm going to this songpull and I'm gonna just play this song however it comes out.
What's the worst that can happen?
Maybe I'll get a video of myself making an asshole of myself. At least it'll be amusing.
I just feel like singin', so I'm going up there.
5/18/2008 6:33:08 PM
Juice- what do I need to know, or do, or bring or whatever?
5/18/2008 7:38:14 PM
It's super simple Kennium.
Just come up and bring your guitar if you want to be comfortable playing or you are welcome to use mine.
My wife is coming so there will be a small casio keyboard if needed.
If you play a Uke song or Mandolin you'll have to bring your own.
However last NH songpull my brother did his song on a Mandolin and he would have let you use it if you wanted to.
And don't worry when you show up just kick back and take your time have a drink or something to eat if you want. You'll do great. And you will have fun. I promise.
5/18/2008 8:28:11 PM
Tonight...I'll be there!
5/19/2008 9:21:58 AM
Sounds like it's shaping up to be a fun night
5/19/2008 9:26:26 AM
Cool!
I haven't seen Swanee in a dog's age.
I'll see you up there Mike.
5/19/2008 9:48:16 AM
Awesome Ken, looking forward to it!
5/19/2008 9:52:09 AM
Swanee
Write a rap for us?
Bohm chicka bohm bohm chicka bohm bohm
5/19/2008 10:52:28 AM
Bump, I wish I could be there tonight!
5/19/2008 11:50:15 AM
Captain I am a Songpull Genie.
Whatever you wish it will be granted.
Is that your final wish?
BTW there has been a songpull in history that had a songpuller performed via internet from his laptop because he was out of town.
At least I remember reading about it. But I don't actually recall the video. Hmmm.
5/19/2008 12:58:07 PM
I have to remember to DVR the season finale of House tonight.
I'd better not miss it.
They're going inside House's head tonight to look for clues.
I really am a bit torn, but I'll be there for sure.
5/19/2008 2:37:11 PM
I've never been to The Back Stage Grille.
Now all I have to do is find it.
5/19/2008 4:29:55 PM
Just drive down 38 toward Tewksbury/Lowell Ken. Once you pass Mahoney's on your left it a little further down on the left in a small plaza.
5/19/2008 4:33:25 PM
It's right on Route 38 in Tewksbury.
There's a Japanese restaurant, the Kyoto, right next door.
5/19/2008 4:33:33 PM
Kennium if you get lost call me.
303-0800
5/19/2008 5:19:12 PM
Myself AND Mrs. Morganic will also be there. I might even join in again...
5/19/2008 6:19:27 PM
Thanks to all that came out last night to the Backstage Grille.
It was a lot of fun and the songwriters were just brimming with artistic fortitude. Well done.
Hope to see you all real soon.
5/20/2008 7:18:49 AM
My new goal is to get tunes played well.
I mean as close to the sound I have in my head. I know getting up thee every month is the way to do it too. I am loving this Juice Thank You.
-suaman
5/20/2008 8:44:20 AM
Don't be so determined to produce what's in your head suaman.
This is just a test bed for crafting and finishing songs.
Think of songpull as your personal scratchpad to later be used as the reference to build your song upon.
It's all about having something to work with and that's what we strive to accomplish, nothing more.
And good job last night.
5/20/2008 9:53:40 AM
Well, that was fun.
It was nice to meet up with my old pal Wayne and to see Dianne doing so well. After all she's been through, that made my heart feel lifted.
Great to see Swanee again, and of course he always has to sit next to a good looking woman. (It's just to keep his image up, I think) :)
Good seeing Jeff (Suaman) and Mykbro and Mike and others, but most of all it was great to see the support that these songwriters give to each other without a trace of ego.
Of course the whole program would not exist without Juice, who puts so much work into this. Thanks. It's a good thing. A very kind and thoughtful thing to do for your fellow songwriters. I'll be back, for sure.
...and I even got home in time to see the season finale of House.
(which wasn't that good)
I should have stayed.
5/20/2008 11:18:58 AM
It was amazing to see all the effort put forth by Bruce and Mike B., you can see how invested these guys are in local music.
I got a big kick out of the fact that Bruce's wife Tricia who is a very old friend of mine wrote and performed her latest song which she said was based on me...I was really honored and thrilled and I can wait to see the video!
Good to see (and hear!) Ken, Wayne, Jeff, Bruce and Tricia and a few other folks who did their originals. New music is alive and well at Songpulls!
5/20/2008 11:50:20 AM
Thank you guys for the very kind words.
Seeing you guys getting fire up to write and perform is what fires me up and whatever I can do to keep that fire stoked is all I care about. It doesn't feel like work at all. (Well the editing afterwards does) but not the company of being around people who share a passion as I do to explore themselves musically.
Right now these Songpulls are honestly one of the best things in my life and I'm loving every minute of it. And best of all I'm able to share it with my wife who actually amazes me at how songwriting seems to come so natural to.
I can't wait to see you all next month.
5/20/2008 3:32:27 PM
WTG Juice!
5/20/2008 5:32:08 PM
Thanks again to Bruce, Tricia, and Mike for creating this wonderful outlet for songwriters. It's not about performance, it's about perfecting the craft of songwriting, which is actually not unlike the act of giving birth in some ways. Difficult, exhausting, painful, but ultimately fulfilling, rewarding, and even exhilarating.
If you're an aspiring songwriter, this is your opportunity knocking...
5/20/2008 5:40:15 PM
I think I have wanted to do this kind of thing for so long that I am getting lost in it's purpose. I have regrouped and understand what it is your saying Juice Thanks for everything!!!
Wayne, Ken, Mike, Swanee good seeing you all.
TRicia It was good to meet you I did love the tune..
5/20/2008 8:20:04 PM
