Super Uke For Kennium
Yeah! That's Jake Shimabukuro. I have one of his albums.
Great skills, brilliant technique. He was on Conan a while ago, and Conan called it one of the best performances he ever had on his show.
Thanks Gary. That's very nice of ya.

Oh, sorry, I meant to say Thanks Crazy cat too.
I guess I was half asleep. Didn't mean to be rude...

The "Dark Side" of ukelele...

Capt. Morgan is the tikiphile around here. We should have that animation using his and Kennium's heads. The cranium of Kennium!

Go right ahead.
I think the uke should be a much more accepted instrument in modern music. It has a sweet sound, even classical, and when you strum a uke everyone smiles.
I'm amazed it isn't used more in modern music.

No offense meant by that Ken.
Tell me though, is it tuned in 4ths or 5ths?

I remember that girl's song about Tom Cruise you posted a long time ago. I got a kick out of that!

My allergies are really bad this year. Worst season in the past ten years or so.

I tune mine GCEA. But there are alternate tunings, and it also depends on the kind of ukulele you have: Concert, Tenor, Baritone... Anyone who plays a stringed instrument should buy a ukulele. They don't cost much, unless you want a really good one. Guinness book of world records calls the uke the easiest instrument in the world to learn.
Some call it the poor man's violin.
A uke will always make you smile, kinda like going fishing or getting an erection, or eating a Ring Ding.
Some day I'm gonna try doing all of those things at the same time.

Another top notch song from Melvern, and about the coolest conceived video ever! I wish I had that song to listen to for the ten years I made that almost exact trip! It would have gone by a lot easier.

JZ,
The vocal style of that uke tune reminds me of an early Beatle recording, "In Spite Of All The Danger", recorded in 1958. It can be found on vol. 1 of the Beatles Anthologies, track 4.

I'm just upset that I couldn't find the Steve Martin/Bernadette Peters version from "The Jerk".
5/9/2008 1:43:29 PM

5/9/2008 1:48:34 PM
