Wankfest Reunited :-)
So... amidst the grinding din of my life came some good news today. My old band, "Living in the Past" (a Jethro Tull Tribute), has decided to come out of hibernation and reunite to do some summer shows.
This is exciting news. They are a great group of musicians and I really enjoyed playing with them. Also noteworthy is the Tull catalog itself -- filled with lengthy, prog-rock jems like "Thick as a Brick (extended live version)", "Farm on the Freeway," and "Minstrel in the Gallery" -- you really get an opportunity to seriously stretch out your chops in this band.
So now, I won't be so miserable next time I have to play Mustang Sally or Funky Music...lol

Bill, that's GREAT NEWS! I totally LOVE Tull! I assume you'll be playing with them for those shows, and that you'll post them here. Will you be doing "Thick As A Brick" in it's glorious entirety?
"I may make you feel, but I can't make you think..."

awesome Bill!

Bill, let us know when the shows are, I'd love to see that!

>>Will you be doing "Thick As A Brick" in it's glorious entirety?

Dude tribute bands are a fkn disaster-
Send me an e-mail when you get a chance...

Chippa,
It's cool. This band was together for 10 years - with me on guitar for 2.5 of em. Know the tribute band pitfalls. It's cool -- the beauty of this band is about playing music. It's not dance rock!! Most people listen, or watch in amazement, or leave. Whatever. We'll do a couple of shows and it will be cool.
Oh, I threw up a quickie MySpace page, too...

Yeah,... I love Jethro Tull. "He's" awesome
(just kidding,... I know it's the name of the band and not a single person)...
But honestly,.. I hope you do play out around here. It would be really fun to see.

At least you won't be fighting about what songs to play!
4/20/2007 12:47:58 PM
...and no Mustang Sally!! :-)
4/20/2007 12:59:59 PM
i dunno, mustang sally with a Flute Solo would be kinda cool.
4/20/2007 1:47:35 PM
maybe. Or, a medley with cross eyed mary even (Cross Eyed Sally?)
4/20/2007 1:57:14 PM
Bill did you guys play at the old Brian's Ivy Hall in downtown Lowell?
4/20/2007 2:00:16 PM
why yes, we did
4/20/2007 4:28:40 PM
"Cross-Eyed Sally"
Hee-hee! I'd love to see that!! I'm a huge fan of Zappa-esque parodies.
Bill, be sure to let everyone know when you guys are playing, especially if it's at Rusty G's. I'd truly love to see it.
4/20/2007 6:08:00 PM
I think I saw you guys at Brian's Ivy too!
Did your "Ian Anderson" have long curly hair, and was he much taller than the rest of the band? I remember him being very tall and lanky.

JZ I played in a band called Downtwisted at the Ivy hall and the singer in that band was pretty tall. We used play Hymn 43 on which he would play the flute.
This is a recent pic of the guy.

Oh and I'd like to see that band Bill!
Dhar---ma seek and you will find!
4/20/2007 7:18:08 PM
Holy Shite!
Beef, that's the band I was thinking of.
You were in Downtwisted?
I remember them well.
They were not a Tull tribute band now that I remember, but you guys definately rocked.
What was the keyboard players name?

Get ready for this:
Ton Jones!
Thanks man! We played that band into the ground.
\Man that Ivy Hall was like playing a real concert with that big stage. Sound was awful as they would not acoustically treat it. Place was built for church sermons not Hymn 43 at full volume
4/21/2007 12:05:47 PM
That's funny.
I played the Ivy Hall a few times too. Like playing in the "Fizzy Lifting Juice" chamber. Highest ceilings ever.
