One Love
One Love makes music for the people. With an energetic spirit that draws people in, this talented Hip Hop and R&B Duo create catchy, feel good music. Fee’s conversational delivery combined with Ruby's soulful voice is often complimented as the perfect match. Whether entertaining in sports arenas or night clubs, One Love gets the crowd moving and keeps them wanting more.
Known as Mill City for its historic brick buildings and cobblestone streets, Fee grew up along the banks of the Merrimack River in a blue collar town called Lowell, Massachusetts. In One Love's more reflective songs, you can hear the influence this environment has had on him. "Life is a struggle but I love it" Fee says. "I wanna stay positive and let the younger cats know that it’s ok to celebrate life".
Located on the outskirts of Boston, Ruby was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, home to such talent as New Edition who used to record down the street from where she lived. Seeing success so close to home inspired her to escape the hardships of the ghetto and pursue a music career. In Ruby’s own words, "I feel that I was born to do this. I have a lot to say and want to share it with the world".
The duo met in 1998 while Fee was attending a battle of the bands competition that was being held at the University of Lowell. Ruby and The Royal Family ended up bringing down the house! Instantly impressed with her vocal ability and star quality, Fee asked Ruby if she would be interested in laying down some tracks for a project that he was producing with his crew X-Cal. From those sessions, a record called “Butta Messenga” was cut which received commercial mix show and college radio airplay. While recording the project, Fee and Ruby discovered that they had great chemistry together and decided to form their own group. One Love was born.
What makes One Love so unique is the passion that Fee and Ruby share for songwriting and performing. Together they have reached new heights. Their first studio project called "Sunshine", recorded in 1999 and dedicated to Fee’s brother Mark who passed on the year before was an underground hit. "Me and my brother both loved making music and entertaining people" Fee says. "He was my best friend and I feel that by continuing to make music I'm helping to keep his memory alive".
Recently, One Love has had the privilege of completing studio projects with Ski who has produced tracks for heavy hitters such as Jay-Z and Lil’ Kim. One Love has also recorded projects in Nashville with musicians who have worked on platinum selling cd’s such as Garth Brooks and Faith Hill. They are currently working on the finishing touches to their latest project with Sony studios producer and engineer Dale “Syntax” Chase whose credits include mixing the audio for the Tupac movie "Resurrection".
Stay tuned as One Love prepares to release their first full length cd and get ready to hear more from the duo who will continue to show the people… One Love.
