Amy Black
Like most singers, I've been belting it out since I was a kiddo. I am drawn to songs with strong, passionate vocals. I put my heart and soul into the songs I sing. I like to move people, the same way I'm moved by singers who give their all to the music. I also like to sing songs that tell great stories and/or are a lot of fun.
I sing music from several genres, including folk, blues, bluegrass and old country. Some of the artists I cover include Bonnie Raitt (my number one influence), Emmy Lou Harris, Gillian Welch, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Alison Krauss and many others.
Right now I'm playing with my newly formed band, the Red Clay Rascals and in some cases (smaller venues) with guitar player, Rich Piccarreto.
I put my set lists together with the audience in mind. I love introducing them to artists and songs they haven't heard of. And it's very important to me that everyone has a great time. Also, I'm a big fan of harmony. My sister, Corrie Jones, is also a singer and graciously accompanies me as a member of the Red Clay Rascals.
You'll have to come out and here us some time soon!
